I want to be able to setup battery alerts on my Taranis, I like it to work at least with 3S and 4S. I'm running OpenTX 2.1.7 firmware.

This is based on the assumption you have the total battery voltage of the craft (e.g. A2, VFAS) reporting via telemetry to your Taranis.

NOTE: Please keep in mind these alerts are setup with 3S/4S setups only.

The below settings are based on the following:

Cell
4.3v good
3.6v warning
3.4v critical

3S
12.9v good
10.8v warning
10.2v critical

4S
17.2v good
14.4v warning
13.6v critical

You are going to be using a combination of Logical Switches (to set state of battery voltage) and Special Functions (to play warnings and voltage value)

Logical Switches (navigate to this menu within the model settings)
Fields: Function, V1, V2, AND switch, Duration, Delay

L1: a>x, A2, 12.9
L2: a<x, A2, 12.9
L3: Stick, L1, L2
L4: Sticky, L2, L1
L5: a<x, A2, 10.8v, L4, 0.0, 3.5
L6: a<x, A2, 10.2v, L5
L7: a<x, A2, 14.4v, L3, 0.0, 3.5
L8: a<x, A2, 13.6v, L7

Explanation of the logical switches:
L1: This switch is activated if A2 reads above 12.9 volts (assumed it is 4S)
L2: This switch is activated if A2 reads below 12.9 volts (assumed it is 3S)
L3: This switch is activated if L1 is ON and L2 is OFF (indicating we detect it as 4S)
L4: This switch is activated if L2 is IN and L1 is OFF (indicating we detect it as 3S)
L5: This switch is activated if the voltage drops below 10.8v for more than 3.5 seconds and we detected it is 3S (L4 switch must be on)
L6: This switch is activated if the voltage drops below 10.2v and 3S battery warning is ON (L5 switch must be on, the battery warning for 3S)
L7: This switch is activated if the voltage drops below 14.4v for more than 3.5 seconds and we detected it is 4S (L3 switch must be on)
L8: This switch is activated if the voltage drops below 13.6v and 4S battery warning is ON (L7 switch must be on, the battery warning for 4S)

Special Functions
The special functions are used to perform an action when a switch is activated (physical or logical). In this case, when 3S or 4S battery reach the first threshold (10.8v for 3S, 14.4v for 4S) the battery low sound is played. The voltage being read out every 4 seconds (this occurs for the whole duration of battery low/critical). When the battery reaches the critical threshold (10.2v for 3S, 13.6v for 4S) the battery critical sound is played every 6s.

Fields: Switch, Action, Parameters, Enable
SF1: L5, Play Track, battlow.wav, No repeat
SF2: L5, Play Value, A2, 4s
SF3: L6, Play Track, battcrt.wav, 6s
SF4: L7, Play Track, battlow.wav, No repeat
SF5: L7, Play Value, A2, 4s
SF6: L8, Play Track, battcrt.wav, 6s
